2012-2013 academic year: 1 GET unit is worth $117.82 (payout value effective August 1, 2012).

For the 2012-2013 academic year:

 

The option to distribute funds will be available August 1 for the 2012-2013 academic year. We have simplified the online process for using your units. Once logged into the “Using Units” section, you will be guided through a process that tells us the following:

  • Where the student is going to college

  • Where to send the money (payments can be sent to the school or the account owner) Please allow two weeks for payment processing

Reminders for using units:

  • Pay tuition, room and board, books and other qualified expenses.

  • Students are eligible to use up to 125 units per year plus any rollover units from the year prior.

  • If you are getting reimbursed for the previous academic year you must fill out a paper form.

  • Whenever you withdraw funds, GET will send you a 1099-Q form the following January. Click here for Frequently Asked Questions about the 1099-Q form.

FAFSA information:

  • A GET account is considered an asset of the account owner, generally the parent, in determining financial aid eligibility.

The GET unit price is $172, effective through July 1, 2013.

Enrollment forms for all new accounts (except newborns) must be postmarked, faxed or completed online by midnight PDT on May 31, 2013.
